
Derrell Lynoid VAUGHN, Sr., 83, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2:00PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church (1728 S Hull Street, Montgomery, AL 36104) followed by a funeral service at 3:00PM with Rev. Claude and McRoberts, III, officiating. Mr. Vaughn graduated from Starke University School in 1950, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, then graduated from Huntingdon College. He became owner of Vaughn Plumbing, Heating, and AC, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Bernice Vaughn, sister, Jan Vaughn Cannon, and his daughter, Shannon Vaughn Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy Davis Vaughn, his son, Derrell Vaughn, Jr. and grandchildren, Derrell III, Davis, and Elizabeth Wesley Vaughn, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Vaughn was a sixty-one year member of Trinity, served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher of junior high boys, and adult advisor to high school students. He was President of the Montgomery Jaycees and was awarded their distinguished service award in 1966. He also served as Chairman of The Boy’s Clubs of Montgomery, and as Montgomery Chairman of the March of Dimes. He coached youth baseball for years and later become an avid team’s manager.
