Dorothy Jean (“Jeanie”) Halse McCluskey passed away in Birmingham, Alabama on October 28, 2018, after battling a long illness, joining her dear husband (Lawrence) in Heaven. Jeanie was born on June 15, 1937, in Montgomery, Alabama to parents Eleanor and Harry Halse. Jeanie married Lawrence (“Buddy”) McCluskey on April 25, 1959. Although Jeanie was raised in Montgomery, Jeanie, Buddy and their family lived for short periods of time in Shreveport, Louisiana; Memphis, Tennessee; and Nashville, Tennessee, before settling in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, where they lived for more than 20 years. Jeanie and Buddy returned to Montgomery in 1994. Jeanie, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, is survived by her 3 children: Ellen Wright of Hoover, Alabama (Don); Cathie Milam of St. Augustine, Florida (Ashton); and Jim McCluskey of Hoover, Alabama. Jeanie also was a loving grandmother (”Nina”) to 7 grandchildren: David and Tyler Wright; Ashton and Andy Milam, Alex (Milam) Wiedeman; and Ashlee and Jessi McCluskey. Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband and parents. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 12:00 to 12:45 pm at White Chapel Funeral Home in Montgomery. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens in Montgomery.
