

Dorothy "Dot" Lee Powers, age 96, of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Dot was born to Alvin Leroy Weeden and Flora Norris Weeden where she grew up in the Selma/Sardis area later moving to the Montgomery. After retiring from a career in civil service, she settled in Wetumpka. Dot will be remembered as one who loved to worship and was an active member of Vaughn Park Church of Christ. She never met a stranger and commanded a quick wit that warmed all those around her. She loved eating chocolate and Blue Bell ice cream, drinking coffee and making folks laugh. Dot will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Flora Weeden, her beloved husband of 28 year, William Joseph Powers; her granddaughter, Debbie Duncan; and her siblings, Alvin Earl Weeden, Evans Leroy Weeden, James Robert Weeden, and Bessie Marie Quarles.
Mrs. Powers is survived by her children, Brenda Duncan, Timothy Powers, and Cindy (Rob) Dale; her grandchildren, Ashley Marie Powers, Erica Dale (Brionne) Godby, Jessica Dale, Robert Dale, and Paul Duncan; as well as her great grandchildren, Allen Duncan, Christopher Duncan, and Noah Duncan.
Pallbearers will be Paul Duncan, Christopher Duncan, Allen Duncan, Robert Dale, Brionne Godby and Zac Goodroe with honorary pallbearers, Noah Duncan and Rob Duncan.
A family and friends visitation for Dot will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 2:00 PM. Jessica Dale will officiate with the help of Christopher Duncan and Allen Duncan will share "He Touched Me." Services will conclude with a burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
