

Earl Kenneth Edwards, 87, a resident of Montgomery, AL, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2015. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. He was preceded in death by his parents Arviezenia Crumpton Edwards and Elvin Kenneth Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bonnie Hill Edwards, and three children, Brenda (Russell) Caprara, Jenny (Paul) Bortolazzo, and Kenny (Debbie) Edwards. Siblings: Vernell Sowell, Sherry Edwards, Joe (Martha) Edwards and Donnie (Vicki) Edwards; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Jeff) Baker, Ashley Edwards, Michelle (Chad) Allred, Diana (Matthew) Lanier, Keith Caprara, Kevin (Danyell) Caprara and Kelly (Thadd) Haase; eleven great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Lauren and Lillian Taff, Jackson, Layla and Keegan Allred, Madysen and Clarke Lanier, Trevor and Ethan Caprara, and Emma Hasse.
Mr. Edwards was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved God and his family. Along with his wife Bonnie they raised their children to love God and know him as their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He passed this wonderful legacy on to all his family. Until his illness he was an active and devoted member of Heritage Baptist Church. He served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, member of the Chancel Choir where he sang duets with his wife on special choir occasions. Mr. Edwards served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a very successful businessman with Independent Life Insurance Company for many years. He began his career with this company as an insurance agent and through the years worked his way up to upper management in the corporate office in Jacksonville, Florida. After retiring from there, he moved back to Montgomery and opened his own independent insurance agency with his son and other family members.
Funeral services for Mr. Edwards will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Heritage Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
