Elizabeth Robinson Bozeman (Wibbie), 101, passed away September 25, 2018. She was the middle child of nine children born to Thomas J. and Eva Robinson. Born in Gilbertown, Alabama but growing up in the Oak Park neighborhood of Montgomery, she and her family were active members of Forest Avenue Methodist Church. In 1939 she married Walter Bozeman. While Walter served in the Army Air Corp (Air Force) during WWII, Wibbie was actively working for the USO providing meals to soldiers traveling through Montgomery. After WWII she became the first charter member of Whitfield Methodist Church where Walter was the organizer and first pastor. After returning to the membership of Forest Avenue Methodist Church in the late 50’s, she remained active there until it moved across town. She then became a devoted member of the Dalraida United Methodist Church, where she organized and directed the Christmas nativity program. She also participated in the older adult programs at Frazer United Methodist Church when Walter joined the pastoral care staff there. She was a devout Christian who lived the Ten Commandments. Her prayer life and commitment to study scripture was incredible, setting an example for her children and other family members. One of her favorite passages of scripture was Psalm 34, which she said provided hope to her when she was in time of need. “…I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears” (verse 4). An avid reader until she could no longer see print, she was blessed with the gifts of retention and near perfect recall. She always had something interesting to share with her loved ones whether it be history, family stories, or ideals by which to live.
She was loved and appreciated by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews for her hosting of the Robinson family Easter lunch and egg hunt for a crowd of fifty or more each year until she reached the age of 95.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Robin Hardwich (Buddy) and Andy Bozeman (Debbie Harris); four grandchildren: Trey Hardwich (Blake); Rebecca Baker (Jason); Katherine Deaver (Jason); and Adam Bozeman (Neyda); and seven grandchildren: Marlin and Stella Hardwich, Chapman and Webb Baker, Luke and Madelyn Deaver, and Rebecca Leigh Bozeman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eva Robinson; her husband Walter; her sisters Elsie Mae, Jose Fa, Peggy, Winnie, and Mickey; and her brothers Thomas, John, and David.
Graveside services will be held at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery on September 28, 2018, at 3:00, Dr. Karl Stegall officiating, with visitation following the service at the gravesite.
The family would like to extend love and thanks to special caregiver and friend Margaret Barton for providing care at home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Wibbie’s favorites Nellie Burge, Salvation Army, or Dalraida United Methodist Church would be appreciated by the family.
