Elizabeth Janet Stringfellow

Elizabeth (Polly) Spivey Hughes Stringfellow, 92, of Montgomery, AL passed away on April 6, 2024. Polly was predeceased by her husbands, Leon Hughes and Zeno Stringfellow, her daughter, Debra Stringfellow, her parents, Lena and Demp Spivey, her sister, Virginia Groves, her brothers Ike and Bill Spivey.

She is survived by her son, Larry Hughes, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Hughes Varga and great-granddaughters Valerie and Holly Varga. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and many people who loved her.

Polly was a long-time member of Eastmont Baptist Church and enjoyed attending her Sunday School class as well as church service. She enjoyed taking family vacations, cooking “good country meals” for family and friends, listening to country music and spending time at their Lake Martin cabin entertaining friends and family for over 61 years. She also enjoyed genealogy and looking up the history of past ancestors. Polly worked as a clerk for South Central Bell for 35 years before retiring in 1985.

The family will receive friends and family 1 hour prior to a graveside service on April 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM, being held at Leak Memory Chapel located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109 and officiated by brother Frank Bowling, Pastor of Eastmont Baptist Church.
