Emiliana Aloysius Leyanna "Little Emmie" Barnes, age 85 of Doraville, GA, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Barnes and her Grandson Michael Sciamanna. She is survived by three sisters, Thrasilla Renne of Big Rapids, MI, Ursula Lennon of Cadillac, MI, and Petronilla Rickaby of Grand Rapids, MI., eight daughters, Marie Sciamanna of Muskegon, MI; Kathryn Gaston and Carolyn Callihan of Marietta, GA; Barbara Ellis of Doraville, GA; Alanna Didion of Carol Stream, IL; Gloria Hatton of Warner Robins, GA; Ursula Witherspoon of Murrells Inlet, SC, Sylvia Bell of Winder, GA., 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grand child. Emmie was raised in Cadillac, Michigan, and settled down south when she married. She was an active member and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and volunteered with the Saint Vincent DePaul Society. Emmie was recognized for the woman of the year award in 1999 from the Holy Cross Church of the Atlanta Archdiocese. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 1:00PM at St. Margaret’s Oakwood Cemetery in Montgomery, AL. There will be a Memorial Service and Mass at Holy Cross Church, 3773 Chamble Tucker Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341 at 11:00 AM on Friday, Jan 10, 2014.
