Estelle M Boyd

BOYD, Estelle McGehee, 94, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011 with her family by her side. Born July 3, 1917 in Montgomery, AL., Estelle was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Claude Ernest Boyd, Sr., her children Claude E. Boyd, Jr. and her daughter, Carolyn Boyd Eubanks. She was also preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters, Walter Ray McGehee, Mary Kate McGehee Jones, James Owen McGehee, Zack Monroe McGehee, Ralph Daniel McGehee, and Milton Irving McGehee. She was a fourth generation descendant of Abner McGehee, founder of the Alabama Bible Society. Mrs. Boyd is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Boyd Calender and Tom Calender of Montgomery, AL. Grandchildren are Stephen A. Boyd and his wife Margaret, of Plano, Texas, Angie Tucker and her husband Ray of Montgomery, Keith Boyd and his wife Christene, of Austin, Texas, Leslie Castillo and her husband Michael of Austin, Texas and Kelli Calender LaPointe of Orlando, Florida. Survivors also include great-grandchildren Kindall Blair Tucker of Auburn, AL., Liam and Helena Boyd of Plano, Texas, Katie and Cameron La Pointe of Orlando, Florida and Allie Marie Boyd of Austin, Texas and several beloved nieces and nephews. Estelle was a loving and outgoing lady who loved people and enjoyed doing special things for others such as cooking and sending cards to those sick or grieving. She always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone. A member of Forest Park Baptist Church until its closing, she later affiliated with Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church where she attended regularly until her health started to decline. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Tim Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at Leak- Memory. Pallbearers will be Milton I. McGehee, Jr., Ray Tucker, Jack Pittman, Ben Auman, Wayne Hiebert, and Tom Calender.
