Eugene F. McDonald

Eugene (Gene) Fisher McDonald, age 94, went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Nannie (Nan) Lou Hall McDonald. He is survived by his 3 sons, Darrell (Sharyn) McDonald, Danny (Cindy) McDonald, and Barry (Deborah) McDonald; grandchildren, Jason McDonald, Alicia (Kevin) McDonald Smith, Jennifer (Kenneth) McDonald Elliott, Barry Jr. (Kristie) McDonald, Beckee McDonald, Charity McDonald Farrow, and Jeremy (Amber) McDonald; great grandchildren, Wesley Hatchett, Carter Hatchett, Grayson McDonald, Clara Jane Smith, Josiah Farrow, Caleb Farrow, Penny McDonald, and Eloise McDonald. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2015, at Leak Memory Chapel with Brother Mike Northcutt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason McDonald, Barry McDonald Jr., Kevin Smith, Kenneth Elliott, David Mills, and Jerry Bolling. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Strickland, Otis Reeves, Philip Reeves, Buddy Reeves, Bill Jones, and Charles Andrews. Mr. McDonald was an active member of Eastmont Baptist (formerly 2nd Baptist) Church, and served in numerous leadership positions there for over 65 years. He was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps (Air Force). For 25 years he volunteered at Baptist Medical Center East, and spent his life dedicated to serving others through his church and other ministries. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building or Missions Fund at Eastmont Baptist Church.
