
Eunice Sherer Giles, 96, a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama died November 16, 2013 in Dothan, Alabama after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Stelzer Giles and parents Ben and Clara Sherer. She and her 6 brothers and sisters were raised in Jasper, Alabama, and always remembered these years fondly.
She is survived by her sons Benjamin (Enedina) Giles and John (Dana) Giles; grandchildren Ben (Christel) Giles Jr., Elizabeth (Kelly) Smith, Meredith (Woody) Hamilton, John (Amy) Giles Jr. , and Michael Giles; plus 9 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Eunice was affiliated with the Montgomery YWCO as director and camp supervisor for many years. Her 10 years before retirement were with the Montgomery Board of Education. Eunice experienced life to its fullest! She enjoyed her sewing club, cooking, gardening, Auburn football, yearly family reunions, shopping, and her many trips to Destin, Florida. Time spent with her family and close friends was most special to her. This year would have marked the 46th year of the Sherer Family Reunion. Eunice was a member of the Montgomery First United Methodist Church for over 60 years and especially appreciated the Christian fellowship of her Sunday School class. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, grandsons-in-law and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Montgomery First United Methodist Church.
