Floryne G Hobbs

HOBBS, Floryne G., age 85, longtime resident of Montgomery, Al died on Wednesday January 23, 2013 of natural causes after protracted illness. She was preceded in her death by her husband, Harold “Red” Hobbs, her son, H Christopher Hobbs, her parents, George Davis Gamble and Lota Belle Gamble; sisters, Inez Shirley, Marge Owens and Nelle Knowles. She is survived by her children; daughter, Conni Sikes of Montgomery, Al; sons, Cory Hobbs(Kelly) of Dothan, Al, Casey Hobbs(Elizabeth) of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Lauren Hobbs, Christopher Hobbs, Natalie Hobbs and Andrew Hobbs; brother, Tom Gamble (Trudy) of Vero Beach, FL; sisters, Grace Sanders of Montgomery, AL and Betty Mitchell(Bud) of Headland, AL. Flo was a dedicated employee for 30 plus years with Montgomery County Public Schools retiring from Superintendent’s Secretary position in 1992. She thoroughly cherished her extended retirement where she kept watch with family, friends and church while enjoying her love of tomato sandwiches with anyone wanting to share one. She was very devoted to her church, Whitfield Methodist and the Keystone Sunday school class, where she volunteered in many capacities. Flo had an uncanny passion for playing bridge and a highly competitive player to whomever she was paired. She continued to round up players for a game up until recently when she was no longer physically able to play. She leaves a family who dearly loves her and will greatly miss her.

Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM conducted by Reverend Francis Turner. Graveside immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Pete Crews, Steve Hancock, Dave Sanders, Bill Mitchell, Jon Mueller, Russ Holman and Paul Humphrey. Honorary Pallbearers are Euel Screws, Sr. and the Keystone Sunday School class of Whitfield Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Whitfield Methodist Church.
