Mrs. Frances T. Whitaker-Price, a life-long resident of Montgomery, Al., passed away peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Luverne, Al., on December 8, 1922, and lived long enough to happily celebrate her 102nd birthday.
She was preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Lena Alice Talley; her brother Prentiss Talley; her husband of 44 years and father of her five children, John B. Whitaker; and her second husband Hollis M. Price, Jr. She was always proud to say that our family was a five-generation family. She is survived by her five children, daughters Beckey Weldon, Susan Owen (Ken), Peggy Selman, Rita Jones, and son John B. Whitaker, Jr. (Lynn); nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many loving step-grandchildren and extended family.
As a child, she would take walks with her mother, dad, and brother, and she would stop and pick flowers. She always loved flowers which led her to having a floral business for over 45 years named “Flowers by Frances.” She never had a dissatisfied customer. She was an artist, painting over one hundred paintings which she shared with family and friends. She also enjoyed making homemade cloth dolls. She loved to be outdoors, working in her yard.
As a life-long member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, she was the historian, a choir member, and florist for her church. The second pew on the right-hand side of the church was known to be the Whitaker Family pew. She loved the Lord, worshiped Him all her life, and taught her children Christian values.
No one could have asked for a more amazing mother, grandmother (Memaw), aunt, friend, devoted Christian. She will be so incredibly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church or the Montgomery Humane Shelter. There will be no graveside services.
A friends and family visitation for Frances will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a celebration of life memorial service at 2:00 PM.
