

Freda Parsons Woodman, age 89, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1935, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Frank Enos Parsons and Marguerite Pittman Parsons. Freda was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Frank Parsons, Joel Parsons, Donald Parsons, Carl Parsons, Greg Parsons, Sadie Parsons Slaughter, Marguerite Parsons Maveety, and Robert Parsons.
Freda is survived by her devoted husband, Harold “Woody” Woodman Jr. of 67 years, and her loving children: Diane Woodman Bailey (Joseph) of Montgomery, Alabama; Wendy Woodman Hallford of Montgomery, Alabama; Jennifer Woodman Aughtman of Montgomery, Alabama; and Harold “Hal” Edward Woodman (Kyra) of Helena, Alabama.
She was the proud grandmother of Jacob Williams (Teri), Megan Williams Burney (Kelly), Wilson Hallford (Grace), Mason Hallford, Josey Aughtman Tutt (Wallace), Graves Aughtman, Alexander Woodman (Courtney), Haley Woodman, and Kylie Woodman, Cynthia Bailey and Rich Bailey and great-grandmother of Tucker Burney, Gianna Burney, Aaryanna Burney, and Drake Woodman.
She was an elementary school teacher in the Montgomery school system for many years. She was a devoted member of St. James GMC for close to 60 years, where she served in the choir, taught children’s Sunday school classes, and established the Prayer Shawl ministry, sending handmade prayer shawls to people all over the world. Freda’s legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the lives she touched with her warmth and strength.
A Celebration of Life Church service will be held at St James GMC on Thursday June 5, at 2:00 PM with a Family and Friends visitation one hour prior to the service.
