Frederick Donald Bottcher

Frederick Donald Bottcher “Fred”, 80, departed this life on June 21, 2023. Born in Birmingham on June 10, 1943, Fred’s family moved to Selma when he was a young boy. He graduated from Parrish High School in 1962, where he was inducted into the school’s Varsity Club for lettering in football. After high school, Fred graduated from Troy State College before serving his country with honor by enlisting in the Air Force. In his lifetime, Fred was a devoted son, a wonderful father, and a fiercely loyal friend. Fred’s quick wit and personality won him friends wherever he went. He always had a kind word and a patient ear for people in need. Fred had a unique ability to see the whole person and focus on their best qualities, no matter what their circumstances. Fred served as a helper and counselor to countless people in his life. He will be missed.

Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Jones Foxworth and his brother, Bracy Foxworth. He is survived by his children, Christopher Bottcher (Jimmie) and Jeffrey Bottcher, his grandchildren Matthew Bottcher and Hudson Brown, his god-children Anna Webb and Noelle Aviles-Turcios, and the best lifelong companion he could have hoped for, Martelia “Marty” Williams.

Services will be held on June 24, 2023 @ 10:00 am in the chapel at Frazer Methodist church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to:
