Gary Grimes Leach went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2012. He was born in Gadsden, AL, on January 31, 1934. He attended schools in Gadsden before completing three years in the U.S. Navy. In 1961, after graduating from Jacksonville State, he was involved in hotel and motel management at Callaway Gardens, Georgia, and Panama City Beach, Florida. He became Alabama State Parks Director in 1987 retiring from service there in 1998. He leaves to treasure many memories his wife, Peggy, son Gary Todd Leach (Jayna), granddaughters Summer and Gracie Leach of Panama City Beach, Florida, sister-in-law Lynne Hurley, Guntersville, Alabama, several nieces and nephews and many special friends in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. The family wishes to express appreciation to Right at Home and Amedysis Hospice for their devotion and care during his illness. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16th, 2012, at Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama, with Dr. Teman Knight and Rev. John Gaines officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the 11 a.m. service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Baptist Church, 1849 Perry Hill Road, Montgomery, Alabama, 36106, or to a charity of your choice. White Chapel Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
