
Gayle Trammell Willis, 71, was called home by God on November 26, 2010, through an automobile collision while returning from a Thanksgiving celebration in Seacrest Beach, Florida. Gayle was born in Camp Hill, Alabama, on September 13, 1939, and grew up in East Tallassee. She was preceded in death by her mother, Merfie H. Hunt; stepfather, Paul D. Hunt; and father, Harry Trammell. A resident of Montgomery for fifty-one years, she is survived by her husband, Earl M. Willis, Jr. Other surviving loved ones include daughter, Cynthia W. Thrash; son-in-law, Don L. Thrash, Jr.; grandchildren, Catherine Gayle Thrash and Don L. Thrash, III (Tripp); brother, Charles H. Trammell; aunts, Mildred H. Marsh and Pat H. Mason; and uncle, O.C. Hodges, Jr. Gayle’s love as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend is her lasting legacy. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4 from 10 o’clock to noon at Leak-Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Dr. Steve Muzio will officiate at a 12:30 graveside service at Old Oakwood Cemetery. Harry Anderson, Don Brewer, Mike Cook, Buddy Dennis, Paul Furr, Robert Lee, Julian Maynard, Charles Parker, Bobby Walton, and Brian E. Willett will serve as pallbearers. Julius Burch, Bart Crum, Norman Goss, Tommy Hatchett, Bill Holland, Kenneth Love, and Brian J. Willett will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity or to Eastwood Christian School in Montgomery.
