George A. “Sonny” Phillips, 78, of Montgomery passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Sonny owned and operated several businesses in the River Region. He was preceded in death by his parents Riley Owen Phillips and Berta Mae Anderson Phillips and a sister: Beth Finkelstein. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Lanett Phillips, of Montgomery; Daughter Marla Phillips of Montgomery; Sons: Pastor Michael Phillips and his wife Lori of Farmersville, Texas; Mickey Phillips and his wife Ann of Montgomery; Todd Phillips of Montgomery; brother-in-law: Jerry Finkelstein; Grandchildren: Anna Pickens, Amy Phillips, Brittany Rawls, Jorgia Phillips, Alexandra Phillips, Savannah Phillips and Todd Phillips, Jr.; Great Grandchildren: Aaron Pickens, Katie Pickens, Dakota Rawls and Dawson Rawls. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday at Leak Memory Chapel with Rev. Doug McCurry officiating.
