Gilbert “Gil” Delano Redd, 74, of Montgomery Alabama passed away Friday, November 1, 2019. Gil was born on June 9, 1945 in Valley Alabama to the late Paul Gilbert and Estelle (Tidwell) Redd. Gil is preceded in death by his wife; Mary Louise Redd and brother Jerry Dean Redd. He is survived by two sons: Gilbert Bartley Redd II (Naysha) and Joseph Lee Redd (Jackie) and two daughters Cherri Redd Scoggin and Cynthia Redd Fannin (Eric). He is also survived by grandchildren; Courtney Brooke Blankenship, Kelly Trotter, Brandt Trotter, Blane Trotter, Nicholas Blankenship, Chase Scoggin, Kyller Joines, Cherri Redd, Gilbert Bartley Redd III, Crimson “Ty” Redd, Cindy Redd, Cody Redd , Chloe Redd and sister; Margaret Redd Schauer of Gulf Breeze Florida.
Gil moved to Montgomery Alabama in 1969 when his gospel group was asked to join the Governor George C. Wallace Campaign. He sang and traveled for many years as a gospel singer before retiring to Wetumpka Alabama where he served on the board of the Redland Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Visitation will be held on November 5, 2019 from11:30 a.m.-12:30pm at White Chapel – Greenwood Funeral Home located at 909 Lincoln Rd. Montgomery, AL. 36109 followed by a graveside service at Alabama Heritage Cemetery located at 10505 Atlanta, Hwy. Montgomery, AL. 36117. at 1:00 PM. Pastor Lee Walker will be officiating.
