Gleaves Patterson Azar

1930 in Pensacola, Florida to William Dean and Catherine T. Patterson. She was married to Zack N. Azar, Jr. with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in 2001.

She attended Huntingdon College as an art major. She was a very talented artist and member of SAC's

Gallery. She had a passion for acting which became reality in being cast as Sissy Spacek's mother-in-law in

the film, The Long Walk Home. People were drawn to her because of her wonderful sense of humor and love of

life. Her large family was her greatest joy and considered her greatest accomplishment.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Gleaves Hastings (Harmon), Zack N. Azar, lll (Gerri),

Dean Azar (Julia), Beth Wall (Tony), Mark Azar (Barbara) and Kitty Simpson (Wade). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her 8 grandsons, Chris Hastings, Patrick Hastings, Zack Azar lV, Will Azar, Joseph Azar, Jim Horne, Kenny Home and Kevin Simpson.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd , 11:00 am at Leak Memory Chapel. Visitation will be held Monday, July 1st, 5-7:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel. Memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. On line condolences may be made at www.LEAK-MC.com.
