Helen Marlene Peacock Gladwell, affectionately known by family as “Aunt Lennie” and “Nana” passed peacefully from our arms into the presence of Jesus on January, 21, 2023. She was born October 7, 1933 in Conecuh County Alabama and was a long time resident of Hope Hull, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband and soul mate of 68 years, Clarence Gladwell, her parents Elmer and Florence Zellers Peacock, her brothers Harlon and Roger, her sisters Wilma, Barbara and Ann and a daughter-in-love Wanda. She is survived by her children Pat Bartel, Sharon (Tom) Travers and Eddie Gladwell, grandchildren Clint (Maggie) Bartel, Erin (PJ) Arnold, Edward (Amy) Gladwell, Paul (Lizz) Travers, Katie Travers and Matthew Travers, great grandchildren Olivia, Charlotte, Cecil, Heather, Mikayla, Michael, Harmony and Melodie, sister Sybil (Ralph) Jarrells, a sister-in-love Barbara Peacock and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends that she loved deeply. She often said she always wanted to be a missionary and she wanted to write children’s books. She never realized she was a powerful witness of God’s love to all who met her and she wrote many wonderful stories upon the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that now we hold as priceless memories. We now hold strong to each other and cling to the memories of her love, strength, humor and wisdom.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 27, 2023 at Forest Hills Cemetery at 11:00 am with Tom Travers officiating. The family request no flowers. Please pay it forward in love and kindness to others. Visitation with family and friends will follow immediately after the service at the home of Mrs. Gladwell.
A very heart felt thank you to the nurses and staff of Adoration Hospice. Your compassion, care, knowledge and professionalism will never be forgotten.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Leak-MC.com for the Gladwell family.
