Simmons, Helen Bowen, age 89, a resident of Montgomery died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 peacefully at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Howard Simmons. She is survived by 2 daughters, Jenifer (Bill) Granberry, Kay (Rush) Meriwether; 4 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jimmy Bowen of Valdosta, Ga.,also a special thank you to Earlene and Donna for their love and enabling her to stay in her home, and her faithful lap companion, Darby. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 12:00 until 1:00, followed by graveside services in Greenwood Cemetery.Donations can be made to Central Alabama Aging Consortium, 818 South Perry St., Montgomery, AL 36104.
