
Henry “Hank” Collins Williford, age 64, died at home on December 3, 2011 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. The service to celebrate his life will begin at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be at Ward Wilson Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, AL at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Born May 14, 1947 in Montgomery, AL to Frank and Mary Nell Williford, Hank attended Forest Avenue Elementary school, Cloverdale Junior High, and Robert E. Lee High School and was an active member of Forest Avenue United Methodist Church. Hank graduated from Troy University where he was a proud member and president of TKE fraternity, and he met his wife Joellen Hornsby at a fraternity blood drive. After graduation Hank served with the Marine Corp Reserve and began his career with Sears in New Orleans then moved to Bessemer, AL and then to Crossett, Arkansas. He left Sears to work with Blount Construction in 1981 in Montgomery, AL. After 10 years with Blount he joined Aldersgate UMC as Program Director for three years before joining Caddell Construction in 1995. Hank truly loved working for Caddell, and he recently received his 15 year service award. Hank had a great love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bowling and board games. He was his daughters’ biggest cheerleader. Hank was deeply devoted to serving his church; he taught all ages as a Sunday school teacher, served as youth director, lead many Bible studies and proudly participated in the annual men’s barbecue. People admired him for his unwavering faith, tireless devotion to his church, love for his family, strong work ethic and enthusiasm for life. Hank never met a stranger and accepted people for who they were. Hank was preceded in death by his father Edward Franklin Williford; mother Mary Nell Collins Williford and infant daughter Kimberly Collins Williford. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Joellen Hornsby Williford; daughter Alison Frances Pepito, son-in-law Nicholas Alexander Pepito, and grandson Maxwell Alexander Pepito of Denver, Colorado; and daughter Robyn Collins and her fiancé Wade Nudson of Kansas City, Kansas; father-in-law, Joe Hornsby of Dothan; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hornsby of Dothan; brother, Daniel James Williford and his wife Elizabeth Williford; brother, Frank Williford and his nieces and nephews, Shannon Shanks, Adam Williford and Harrow Strickland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aldersgate UMC Building Fund, 6610 Vaughn Rd. Montgomery, AL. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Montgomery and to Betty Safford who lovingly cared for him during his final days.
