
Howard “Ellis” Harris, 86, born January 8, 1926, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, November 23, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Reeves Harris, and one sister, Nell H. Williams. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Gregg (Janice) Harris; Becky (Freddie) Henderson; Patti (Gerald) Smith, all of Montgomery, AL; Hugh “Bubba” (Glenda) Harris, Jacksonville, FL; one brother Joe Ed (Sue) Harris, Abbeville, Al; and one sister Martha Jane (Don) Shannon, Birmingham, Al. PaPa cherished seven grandchildren: Gregg Harris Jr., Dallas, TX; Ashley Harris, Birmingham, AL; Jay Harris, Jacksonville, FL; Todd (Jennifer) Henderson, Ray (Victoria) Little, Cole (Brittany) Little, Montgomery, AL; Hayley Henderson, Orange Beach, AL. and 5 great grandchildren. He had a special friend, Denise Weber, and a wonderful care giver, Mattie Pearl Worthy. He was a WWII veteran who served in the US Navy. He was in one of the first divisions to land at Iwo Jima. He loved his country, the outdoors and Lake Martin. He attended Huntingdon College and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Services will be held Monday, November 26; at 1:00pm with visitation at 12:00 Noon at Leak Memory officiated by Dr. Rick Marshall. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Russell Craft.
