
Jacquelyn Eloise Laurie, a native and longtime resident of Montgomery, died peacefully at home with family by her side on Monday, December 14, 2015 after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Eloise Laurie and her brother George Laurie, Jr. (Geordie), all of Uriah. She is survived by her brother Robin (Debbie) Laurie of Montgomery, her nephews and nieces George (Jenny) Laurie, III of Uriah, Leigh (John) Cleary of Montgomery, Liz (Justin) Bogie of Washington, DC, Garrett Laurie of Montgomery and her great nieces and nephews Ansley and George Laurie and Emma and Jack Cleary.
Jackie was raised in Uriah where she graduated from J.U. Blacksher High School in 1961 and then attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery. She held many positions with the State of Alabama, with the most recent being executive assistant to the staff attorneys of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. She retired from the state in 1997 and embarked on a second career at Parisian in Montgomery, where many customers valued her fashion advice. In early 2000, her mother became ill and Jackie assumed the role of primary caregiver until her mother’s death in 2002. Jackie loved and enjoyed her family, shopping, dining and traveling with her friends, and attending the Southern Charm Garden Club.
Visitation will be held in the Reception Room at First United Methodist Church, Montgomery at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 20. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 2416 West Cloverdale Park, Montgomery, AL 36106.
