

LISENBY, James Hill “Jimmy”, 80, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Born on August 26, 1942, to the late Clarence and Edith Lisenby in Montgomery, AL. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved family; Children: Kellie Anne Lisenby, James Keith Lisenby (Elizabeth), and KayLynn Lisenby Lester (Tim).
Siblings: Gloria Lisenby Moore, Tony Lisenby (Reba), Nancy Lisenby Borders. Grandchildren: Angel Lester, Thomas Lester, Hunter Birch, Erin Villarreal, Jared Lisenby, Scott Lisenby, Charlie Harbourt, Adrienne Harbourt, Devon Lisenby, Eva Tinney, Katelyn Rivera, Jackson Smith, Aidan Smith, Beau Smith, Laurel Mays, Josh Mays, Jack Bob, Axel Tillery, Sarah Lisenby, Jake Lisenby.
Great grandchildren: Kellan Rivera, Kaleb Rivera, Leo Rivera, and Kevin Jameson Tillery. And many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Extended family: Christine Haas, Marcia Woodard, Leon Hooks (Kathy), John Johnson (Sheila), Jim Causey (Diann), Debra Ringstaff, Vaneese “Niecy” Jones, Jim Larkin, Valerie Watts, Sylvia Williams, Ed Wright (Diane), Donna Wright Alexander (Jeff) and Patsy Wright Guy.
He was preceded in death by his brother Clarence M. Lisenby and his companion Irma Wright Lisenby. Jimmy served 12 years with the Montgomery Police Department where he achieved the rank of Detective, he was owner and of McNeal’s Hickory Pit BBQ restaurant for 15 years and he served over 20 years as the Director of Food Services with the City of Montgomery Zoo. Jimmy was a loyal member of Masonic Lodge #11, OES Elizabeth Armstrong Chapter #10 and F.O.P. Lodge #11. He had a tremendous impact serving his community including the Sheriff’s Boys & Girl’s Ranch, Sabic, City of Montgomery Zoo, City of Montgomery Parks & Recreation Department, Garrett Coliseum, Crampton Bowl/Multi Plex, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery Police Department and Capitol Heights Baptist Church.
There will be a memorial service on August 3, 2023 at Capitol Heights Baptist Church, 2514 Madison Ave. Montgomery, AL. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary from 12-2pm with a service immediately following officiated by Pastor Russell Zwerner.
