He was preceded in death by his father James L. Martin, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Janice Daniel Martin; his son, James L. Martin, III; his mother Lois Martin; sister Vicki Martin Sawyer (Buzz); his grandchildren Taylor Martin Reese (Austin), T.J., Aubrie, Ethan, Bodhi, Rosie and Clay Martin.
Jimmy was born in Prattville, but moved to Montgomery at a young age, he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and worked his entire at James Martin Motor Company. He was a longtime member of Aldersgate UMC.
Jimmy was an avid outdoors man and gun collector. He loved hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. He was happiest when working on his land in Macon County. He was also a car enthusiast.
Jimmy was a passionate man with a love for life and so many things. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He never met a stranger, as his sense of humor and loving spirit easily drew people to him.
As Jimmy's health conditions declined, he was fortunate to attend the Respite ministry at First United Methodist Church in Montgomery which allowed him to stay active, while there he touched the lives of so many volunteers and participants over the 13 months he was able to attend.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, on December 10, 2025, at 11:00 am. with visitation for one-hour prior. The family will have a private family burial later.
Pallbearers for the services will be Jimmy Daniel, Allen Daniel, Larry Cooper, Tim Hardin, Ronnie Elmore, and John Ray.
In lieu of flowers his family has requested contributions be made in his honor to the Respite Ministry at First United Methodist Church, 2416 W Cloverdale Park, Montgomery, Alabama, 36106.
