

JESSE NEAL RUSSELL
Jesse Neal Russell passed away early morning on April 30, 2025. He was 88 years old.
Jesse was born on August 27,1936 in Shelhorn, Alabama to Jesse James and Merle Newman Russell.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Merle Russell.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia Holmes Russell of Pike Road; sister, Ann Russell Ingram of Spring, Texas; brother, James Lowell Russell of Montgomery; sister, Denise Russell Bryant of Senatobia, Mississippi. Jesse and Patricia have four children: Faye Russell Allen of Montgomery, Alabama; Patti Russell Turner of Eclectic, Alabama; Kathy Russell Lassiter of Pike Road, Alabama; and Alan Neal Russell of Pike Road, Alabama.
They have seven grandchildren: Alana Turner Scrip of Murfressboro, Tennessee; Mandi Turner Howell of Montgomery, Alabama; Jesse Wade Turner of Wetumpka, Alabama; Russell Allen Lassiter of Auburn, Alabama; Benjamin Grant Lassiter of Pike Road, Alabama; Neal Brady Lassiter of Pike Road, Alabama; and Morgan Taylor Russell of Pell City, Alabama.
They have 17 great-grandchildren; Kiley and Kaleb Scrip of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Olivia and Adalaine Howell of Montgomery, Alabama; Teagan and William Wade Turner of Wetumpka, Alabama; Mason and Jack Lassiter of Pike Road, Alabama; Adalyn and Bentley Lassiter of Auburn, Alabama; and Cole, Cate, Neely, Everlie, Weslianne, Tommy, and Davy Lassiter of Pike Road, Alabama.
Jesse was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-father. He faithfully served his Heavenly Father for his entire life. In his early years, he was the minister of the Motts Church of Christ near Andalusia, Alabama from 1962-1963, the Oak Bowery Church of Christ in Briar Hill, Alabama from 1963-1965. He spoke on the WMGY Sunday morning radio program from 1961 to 1963. He served the Panama Street Church of Christ as an elder for several years.
He and Patricia moved to Buena Vista, Georgia in 1979 to serve as missionaries in a small rural church. He loved to sing and served as song leader at many congregations and gospel meetings throughout the area. He studied his Bible daily and taught many classes throughout the years.
Jesse retired from the United States Postal Service in 1991 after working for 35 years. His career included being a postal clerk, Postmaster, and Postmaster inspector.
Jesse believed in Christian education for his children and supported it until his final days. He supported the education given at Alabama Christian Academy, Faulkner Biblical Studies, and Amridge University. He volunteered his time to student programs, served as special projects coordinator, and improved facilities.
In his later years, Jesse served as a Board member to Amridge University, believing a Christian foundation aids individuals to leadership and service in their professional career as well as their spiritual life.
Jesse was a faithful servant of God, loyal to his family and friends, and a servant to those in need. He will be missed here on earth while enjoying the riches of heaven.
