

He was born in Braxton, Mississippi on the river banks of the Mississippi. Joe, also known by the locals as Jimbo, grew up in Bay Minette, AL where he was a Biology/ P.E. teacher, football coach, and was inducted as a player in the Bay Minette Football Hall of Fame. He played college football at Livingston University and Graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with a Degree in Education.
Joe, also known as the Sandman, was known for his unique arts & crafts (SandArt, FabArt, Break in Case of Emergency Bottles, and many more) that he sold in gift shops and art shows throughout the U.S. The art shows were where he taught his children at very young ages how to interact with people, communicate, sell, and work hard. Joe was a project manager for the Alabama Development Office and helped create thousands of jobs throughout the state before his retirement.
Joe and his late wife, Evelyn Hanks Berry, raised 4 children in the Cloverdale neighborhood in Montgomery, AL. He was devoted to his children's education and development.
Joe had a passion for meeting people and learning about them. He enjoyed going to art shows, festivals, traveling the world, and spending time at the beach at his RV "The Condo". You could often find him at the Florabama throwing a fish at the Mullet Toss or just telling stories while enjoying old and new friends.
Joe was loved and remembered by all that met him and his legacy will continue through his family and friends.
He is survived by his 4 children Joanne Perry (Mike), Jennifer Pruitt, David H. Berry, and
Dr. Mark N. Berry; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2022 at Leak Memory Chapel at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held a hour before the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Georgiana, Alabama.
