Joe Ferrell Lewis

lJoe Ferrell Lewis, age 85 of Montgomery, AL passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Norman Lewis and Annie Jewel Fuller Lewis; one brother, Billy Norman Lewis; and a former wife, Jean Robbins Lewis. He was born and grew up in Highland Home, AL in Crenshaw County. In later year, he came to Montgomery which he made his permanent home. Joe Ferrell worked with Montgomery County Engineering Department and retired in 1994. He was a diehard Alabama fan and also supported the Atlanta Braves. Joe was an avid gardener giving baskets full of fresh home-grown vegetables to friends and neighbors from his beautiful garden. Joe always had a smile on his face, and he was a great friend who was loved by all. Joe greatly enjoyed working in his garden and dancing with his wife, Maggie. The couple went to dances all over.Joe Ferrell is survived by his wife, Maggie Cheatham Lewis; step-sons, Dory (Chris) Brunson, Joe (Sandy) Brunson; one step-daughter, Fran Brunson (Marty) Berry; six step-grandchildren, Russ Noble, Rodney (Melody) Noble, Keith Brunson, Keri (Vince) McKeough, Kannan Brunson (Bobby) Sharp, Emily Madore; step great-grandchildren, Avery Sharp, Kaelen Brunson, Addison Brunson, Sam Sharp, Hudson Noble, Levi Noble; and numerous cousins. The visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Leak Memory Chapel followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM in Greenwood Serenity Cemetery.
