John M. Goodson

John Marion Goodson, 85, formerly of Prattville, Alabama and a resident of Cookeville, Tennessee, died in Cookeville on Sunday, May 22, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Holt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. Internment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Goodson was born August 26, 1925 in Prattville, Alabama, the son of Jesse McClain and Lillian Beatrice (Barber) Goodson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Crow Goodson of Cookeville, Tennessee; daughters Barbara Goodson (and husband Jeff Austen) of Cookeville, and Patricia Goodson (and husband Dean Roddick) of Laramie, Wyoming; brothers Ralph, Clarence, and Ernest Goodson of Prattville, Alabama; sister Mary Wilson of Montgomery, Alabama; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Diane Beck of Hixson, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by brothers Howard and Lawrence Goodson.

Mr. Goodson was a retired electrician who owned and operated Goodson Electric Company in Montgomery for many years. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Cookeville, Tennessee.
