Herbert John “Johnny” Oakley, Jr., 61, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on September 13, 2020 after an extended illness. Due to COVID and hurricane considerations, a private family service will be held. Johnny was born in Evergreen, AL to the late Herbert John Oakley, Sr. and Frances Bedsole Oakley. Johnny attended Auburn University and got his degree from Troy University. He was an Elementary school teacher for over 26 years, most recently teaching at Wares Ferry Road Elementary School. Johnny was a gifted musician, playing both the piano and guitar. He also was a very talented singer and gardener. He loved gardening and his fish aquariums. He also loved all of his dogs, most recently his dachshund Dale. Johnny was a beloved brother and uncle who never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew him. He is survived by three sisters, Laura Oakley Morrison, Lynne Oakley Taylor, Susan Oakley Scanlan; Jerry Bedsole, Dan Bedsole; seven nieces and nephews; and 6 great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank family members, friends and church members for all the prayers that have been offered on Johnny’s behalf.
