Joseph Patrick Cox Jr.

Joseph Patrick Cox Jr. passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 22, 1957 and is proceeded in death by his great grandparents, Dewitt & Francis Coleman; grandparents, Roy & Elsie Cox, Dewey & Demarious Manning; Parents, Joseph Patrick & Doris Thompson Cox; Larry Manning, Ronnie Barnes, Robin Barnes, Suzanna Barnes. Survivors include his Son, Patrick Cox; Siblings, Patti Cox Campbell (Lyman), Tammy Cox; Aunt, Joann Barnes; Niece, Jennifer Miller (Josh), Hayley Denney (Lide); Cousins, Barrie Barnes (Lisa), Gary Cox (Debra), Deborah Rosato (Tony), Cathy Chaney (Colin).

Joe attended high school in Montgomery, Alabama and attended college playing baseball at Livingston University in Eutaw, Alabama for two years. He was able to enjoy baseball for many years thereafter as he watched his son Patrick play from age 4 through high school. His son Patrick, was the apple of his eye and he loved him dearly. Joe worked at Construction Materials for much of his adult life until illness kept him from working. In Joe’s spare time on the weekends, he could be found playing golf with close friends, watching Alabama football. He also enjoyed boating before his illness. Joe’s faithful companion – a Britney spaniel named Jade, kept him company in his most recent years. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
