Julian H. Maynard, Jr, passed peacefully into Heaven from his home on August 9, 2016.
Julian was born September 28, 1933, to Julian H. Maynard, Sr. and Alice Wilters Maynard. He graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1951 and, anxious to serve his country, immediately joined the U. S. Navy. He served on the USS Sea Poacher, a submarine, during the Korean War. He then attended API (now Auburn University) and graduated with a B.S. in Economics.
Julian spent most of his adult life in Montgomery, where he worked with the March of Dimes until he began a long career as a realtor.
Julian is survived by his wife, Sherry Mills Maynard; a daughter Julia and her son Austin; a son James; and a son Krewe and his wife Staci and their sons Alex, Jonah and Eli.
As well as for his dedication to the Lord and to his family, Julian was known and loved for his sweet spirit and for his warm humor and wit. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 13, at Highland Avenue Baptist Church, 1900 Highland Avenue, Montgomery, where he served joyfully and faithfully for many years as a deacon. Family will greet friends there at 1:00 p.m., with services to follow at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Bobby DuBois and Pastor Clint Harris officiating. Burial is to follow at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Burbank, Eric Cheek, Oliver Faulkner, Lance Kelly, Greg Lauderdale and William D. “Bill” Smith.
For their care and comfort, the family wishes to thank Dr. Ryan McWhorter, Dr. Timothy Morrow, Dr. Hamp Greene, and Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Julian’s memory to Highland Avenue Baptist Church.
