Kathleen Slawson McGaughy

Kathleen Slawson McGaughy, "Nana", 85, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. in Stakely Sanctuary, First Baptist Church of Montgomery. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. in the church parlor. Graveside services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pall-bearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

A native of Barbour County (Elamville), Kathleen went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Montevallo. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church Montgomery. Kathleen was a school teacher until her retirement in 1980. She was an avid supporter of the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, and served as President of the Symphony League in 2007. Kathleen was married for 59 years to her husband Jack until his passing in 2014.

She is survived by her brother, Guice Slawson (Caroline); two daughters, Debbie McGaughy Coleman (Sid), Alecia McGaughy Muller (Chandler); six grandchildren, Caroline Coleman Blount (John), Algernon Sidney Coleman, IV (Courtney), Preston Joseph Muller (Hadley), Allan Chandler Muller, III, Jackson Graham Muller, Clayton Pennfield Muller; seven great-grandchildren, Laura Coleman Blount, Luther Jackson Muller, Algernon Sidney Coleman, V, Prynn McGaughy Muller, Ann Hollis Coleman, Preston Joseph Muller. Jr., Wyatt Adalyn Muller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, First Baptist Church Montgomery or the charity of your choice.
