Kenneth Allen Jackson, 79, passed away on July 13th in Birmingham, Alabama. Son of James C. and Inez W. Jackson, he was born on December 23rd, 1944, in Muscadine, Alabama. That's the bookends of his life, but those who knew Ken can recount the stories in between.
In Ken's own words, he stated, "I would like people to remember me as a Christian, patriotic, and family person." His life reflects these three attributes clearly. Following his graduation from Cleburne County High School in 1963, Ken joined the U.S. Air Force on September 26, 1965. He loved his country and was proud of his patriotic duty. His active duty military service spanned 4 years where he received the National Defense Service Award and several other awards and medals.
Ken continued his love of country with various jobs. He worked as an Ombudsman with the State of Alabama Industrial Relations for most of his career and re-enlisted for military service in the Alabama Air National Guard working both concurrently until he retired from the military.
In 1973, Ken met the love of his life - Betty Margaret Townsend - six years later marrying her at the same church they attended until his passing- Frazer Church. They had two children, Bradley Kenneth and Hunter Rutledge Jackson. As a family man, he enjoyed traveling across this great nation on memorable vacations with his family, and cheering on Auburn for every game with his wife and family.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Inez W. Jackson; brothers, Rolfe, Curtis (СВ), John, and Kermit, and sisters, Eleanor and Vaughn.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Betty; sons, Bradley Jackson and Hunter (Tiffany) Jackson; sister, Rebecca J. Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Arvid and Diane Junior.
The family would like to thank Ken and Betty’s pastor and personal friend, Dr. Neil Epler for his support as well as family and friends for their continual prayers. Thanks to our family and friends for your love and support to us during this difficult time in our lives.
May Ken’s words live on as we remember his love for God, this great nation, and his family.
