Lila Margaret Copelin

Lila Margaret Copelin, 90, born August 17, 1934, and passed away Jan. 31, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Lee "Sandy" Copelin, Father James Dennis Culpepper, Mother Jettie Culpepper, brothers Earl, Virgil and Curtis Culpepper, sister Hazel Culpepper.

She is survived by a brother Floyd Culpepper (Barbara), sister-in-law, Blanche Culpepper and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lila Margaret Culpepper Copelin was a long-time employee of Bellsouth Telecommunications, served faithfully in the New Member and benevolence ministries of her beloved Eastmont Baptist Church, was a founding resident of the Culpepper Corner on 13th Street in Laguna Beach, never had children but was a marvelous aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Along with sister Hazel was a member of the real-life Odd Couple who (in her white Cadillac) visited family members all over "the country" (or the Tri-county area) every weekend.

Margaret and Sandy always made time for the nieces and nephews taking them home to Birmingham for weekends.

A family and friends visitation for Lila will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 12:00 PM. A Celebration of life chapel service will occur Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel. A graveside committal service immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery.
