
McGaughy, Luther Jackson, "Jack-Jack", 81, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 28th at 2:00 in Stakely Chapel, First Baptist Church of Montgomery. Graveside services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior in the church parlor. Pallbearers are his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Poundstone Sunday School Class.
A native of Montevallo, Alabama, Jack earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Auburn University in agriculture. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. His entire professional career was spent at Alfa and he served his country, obtaining the rank of Full Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve. A devoted family man, Jack-Jack spent time with his children and grandchildren, instilling his love of flying and hunting in his nephews, son-in-laws, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Kathleen Slawson McGaughy; two daughters, Debbie McGaughy Coleman (Sid), Alecia McGaughy Muller (Chandler); six grandchildren, Caroline Coleman Blount (John), Algernon Sidney Coleman IV (Courtney), Preston Joseph Muller (Hadley), Allan Chandler Muller III, Jackson Graham Muller, Clayton Pennfield Muller; great-grandchildren, Laura Coleman Blount, Luther Jackson Muller, Algernon Sidney Coleman, V. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church, Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, or the charity of your choice
