Margaret Jeanette Hopkins, 89, passed away March 30, 2012 at 12:10am after a brief illness. She died in her home surrounded by her family and two dedicated and wonderful caregivers. Jeanette was a longtime member of Dalraida Baptist Church. She was born in Slocomb, AL on December 4, 1922. She is survived by her two children, Charlotte Hopkins Evers and Edward Clayton Hopkins; 2 grandchildren, Susan Weaver (Bobby) Beard and Robert Clayton Weaver; 2 great grandchildren, James Blake Spencer and Lauren Brittney (Chet) Marshall; two sisters, Grace Ritter of Las Vegas, NV, and Elaine (Gatha) Owens of Augusta, GA. Jeanette’s passion was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she was blessed to be able to spend many enjoyable and fun hours with them for many years. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in knowing that she is now whole and complete and basking in the glory of the Lord. Visitation will be at White Chapel Funeral Home today, Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 12:30pm, with a funeral service to follow at 1:30pm. Burial will take place immediately thereafter in Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Home Health Hospice 2400 John Hawkins Parkway Birmingham, AL 35244. Special appreciation is expressed to Betty Stafford and Tenease Lawrence for their compassionate and dedicated service.
