Margaret Shepard Benson

Peggy was born in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, on January 2, 1924, to Harlow and Edythe Shepard. She married Bertil Benson in 1942 and was an USAF wife for 23 years. She graduated from college at the age of 46 and was an advocate of early childhood education. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Montgomery. She traveled widely and was proud of her Pilgrim heritage.

Visitation will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014 with services following at 2:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Bettina Johnson, of Tallahassee, FL; a son, Dr. Chris Benson (Susan); of Hattiesburg, MS; her grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Benson and Douglas Johnson (Alisa) and two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Avi Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertil Benson, USAF(Ret.), her parents, and sisters, Abbie, Beverly, and Beth, and brother Harry.
