

Margaret Alford Jones, born August 18, 1917, a resident of Montgomery and Camden, Alabama, died after an extended illness on April 28, 2012. Mrs. Jones graduated from Troy State University with a degree in education. She taught school for a few years, but retired from the State Health Department. During her retirement, she traveled extensively throughout the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska and also Europe. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She was active in Garden Clubs and loved to participate in crafts of all kinds. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents: George C. Alford and Carrie Fail Alford; her husband: Edward Henry Jones, Jr.; brother: Jack Alford; sister: Betty Alford Cassity; niece: Mary Scott Alford Barnes and a nephew: George Cassity. She is survived by her son: Edward Henry Jones III and his wife Betty; Grandchildren: Barton K. Jones and wife Kelly; Teresa Jones Hink and husband Jeff; Michael Alford Jones and wife LaChelle; Great Grandchildren: Chris Jones, Tyler Jones, and Jack Jones; Niece: Betty Carol Cassity Mundy and husband Warren; Nephews: George Alford and wife Ann; Rob Alford and wife Jane; Sisters-in-law: Joyce Joiner and husband Bill; Matt Lacy; Merle Wright and husband John and many nieces and nephews-in-law. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 2 at Leak Memory Chapel. Graveside services will be held the following day, Thursday, May 3 at 2 pm at Camden Cemetery with Rev. Laurie Jones officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews: Dr. Richard Jones, Jimmy Jones, Bob Jones, David Jones, Allen Joiner, and great nephews-in-law, Donald Hall, III and Todd Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining Alford and Jones cousins and the close personal friends of Ed H. Jones, III. Her family extends a special thanks to her caregivers, Callie Crayton, Alichia Crayton, Barbara Wheat, Jackie Ellis, Maudie Banks and Southeast Hospice.
