
Parker, Margaret Gayle Granger passed away peacefully on May 21, 2016 at home in Montgomery, Al. She was born on Dothan, Al on February 20, 1938 to Clyde McIntyre Granger and Alex Carl "Eck" Granger. Gayle graduated from Dothan High School then received her Associates Degree in Nursing at Frazer-Ellis Hospital in Dothan and completed clinical training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church Annunciation of the Theotokos of Montgomery, AL since 1957, the same year she married her beloved husband, Nicholas John Parker. They were married for 53 wonderful years. She was a member and past president of the Philoptochos (women's society in the Church). Gayle was truly loved by many. She will be remembered for her gentleness, nurturing, and kindness to all she met. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband. Survivors include: sister, Judith Granger Ward; daughters, Evanthea Parker Phipps (Roger) of New Orleans, and Thalia Parker Wells (Phillip) of Montgomery, AL; grandsons, Courtney D. Phipps and T. Steven Whitmire (Carol); great-grand son, Nicholas Whitmire; a host of nieces and nephews; and grand-dogs. Visitation will be at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Al. 36109 on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 5-7PM. The funeral will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church Annunciation of the Theotokos, 231 S. Capital Parkway, Montgomery, AL. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Father John W. Stefero (Brig. Gen. (Chaplain) USAF retired) will be officiating. Visitation at the church preceding the service will be from 12noon-2:00pm. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.
