James Marvin Daniel was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, son, and friend, but, most importantly, a Christian. He went to his final reward on March 17, 2025. Born on November 2, 1930, he spent his childhood having adventures with his baby sister Marjorie Allen. At 17, he joined the US Navy and served his country in the Korean War. In 1952, he met the love of his life, his biggest cheerleader, his soul mate, Margaret Stringer. They married in 1955 and built a life dedicated to serving God, loving family, and helping others. While they had three children under the age of 10, they moved from Tennessee to Arkansas for Marvin to finish his degree and become a teacher and preacher. Marvin devoted his professional life to being a teacher, professor, and school administrator while serving as a preacher in several congregations of the Church of Christ in Georgia, West Virginia, Florida, and Alabama.
They had a son, Michael Daniel, two daughters, Karen Osborne (Don), and Terry Bagents (Tim), three granddaughters, Courtney Cochran (Josh), Haley Steelman (Troy), and Shea Daniel, one grandson, Seth Daniel, and one great-grandson, Jack Steelman. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Bessie Daniel. Anyone who knew Marvin knew that he had a profound knowledge of God’s word and a courageous commitment to teaching. He was smart and humble and kind and funny and truly good. He will be greatly missed, fondly remembered, and deeply loved.
A family and friends visitation for Marvin will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude with a burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
