Mary Anne Clinton Edge

Mary Anne Clinton Edge, 84, died on January 31, 2016. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery Al. with Rev. Winston Brooks Officiating. The family will greet friends on hour before the service. Interment will be on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Street, Montgomery, Alabama.

Mrs. Edge, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was born October 3, 1931 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, to Mable and Gage Blalock. Her only sibling, a brother, Glenn Blalock died in 1975. She attended school in Kentucky where she graduated with honors from Bowling Green University. It was also in Kentucky where she married Pat Clinton. They later relocated to Montgomery, Alabama in 1955 and to Macon, Georgia in 1975. Her two sons were born in Montgomery. Mr. Clinton died in 1979.

Mrs. Edge worked in banking until 1975 when she entered employment with the United States Probation and Parole Office in Macon. She held different positions in her 23 years’ service and retired as Administration Manager in 1999. She was the first employee to hold this title.

Mrs. Edge married John Edge in 1983 and his son, Daughter-in-law and child became cherished members of Mrs. Edge’s family.

A member of Vineville Baptist Church for over 30 years, She was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. In the past she worked with pre-school children and in the church library. She was a member of the Wesleyan woods Garden Club, the Sassy Dames and NARFE.

Her beloved son , Jeff Clinton, died in 2009. She is survived by her husband , John Edge, a son Gary Clinton, Montgomery Alabama; grandson, Matthew Clinton, Tuscaloosa, Alabama: stepson John T. Edge and his wife Blair, and step-grandson, Jess Edge, Oxford, Mississippi.
