

Mary Edna Talbert, age 104, was born September 13, 1920 in Sylacauga, Alabama and died September 19, 2024 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents Lafayette Harlyn and Aldora Bolton Gravette of Sylacauga, Alabama, sisters Vida (Lucky) Talbot, Ollie Smithie (Gordon) Inbody, Odie Lee (Carson) Stewart, Ida Eulana (Howard) Bush, brothers Ralph Kinion (Ruth) Gravette, David Tilton Gravette, Hugh Harlyn (Margie) Gravette, Robert Gene (Sara) Gravette, and Murray Leon Gravette. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jack Hartzog of Montgomery, Alabama, who faithfully cared for Mary Edna; three grandchildren, Lori Hartzog Chisholm (Danny) of Clinton, Tennessee, Kevin Hartzog (Jeanne Ann) of Farragut, Tennessee, Kendyl Hartzog Decker (Joe) of Auburn, Alabama; six great-grandchildren, Cally, Lucy and Matt Chisholm, Jillian and Graham Hartzog and Aaron Decker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
After retiring from Fox Photo in Montgomery, she enjoyed quilting and tending to her flower gardens as well as being devoted to her family and friends. She was a long-time member of Highland Gardens Baptist Church in Montgomery where she served and traveled with her church friends on many trips. Mary Edna was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Crowne Health Care and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they gave Mary Edna in her final days.
A graveside service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 with Dr. Danny Chisholm officiating. Visitation will be in Leak Memory Chapel for one hour prior to the service.
