
Louis Neal Berney, 61, passed away suddenly Friday, October 11, 2013. Neal was born to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene A.E. Berney on June 18, 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama. Neal graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended Troy University and began his professional career with Berney Office Solutions, where he served as president and chief executive officer for 30 years. After selling the company, he joined Aronov Realty as a commercial property manager. In addition to working for Aronov, Neal also pursued his love of helping young professionals advance their careers by becoming a certified business coach and advisor. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in the river region community and served on several boards of directors including Goodwill Industries, the United Way, the Exchange Club of Montgomery and the Montgomery Kiwanis Club. He received several achievement awards including “Small Business of the Year” from the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and was selected as an “Outstanding Young Men of America” early in his career. Neal was an active member of Frazer UMC, and was a part of the early response team after the 2011 tornadoes. Neal lived well, loved much and made a giant impact on so many people. He loved his family with a depth of devotion that was amazing to witness. Neal was a brother in Christ and made the lives of everyone he met better, with friendship, love, enthusiasm, time, inclusion, joy, care, happiness and a Christian example. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret Reese and A.E. Berney. Neal is survived by his wife, Diane (Sellers), and his children, Chadson Neal Berney (Meghan), Morgan Reese Berney and John Tyler Berney (Kristin). Additional survivors include one sister and three brothers and several nieces and nephews; Norma Berney Lundy and her son Kyle (Whitney) and daughter Leisl Lundy Larson; David Eugene (Joyce), his children DJ and Michelle; Freddie Lee Berney; Daniel Reese Berney (Lisa), and his children Katy and AJ. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 2pm at Frazer United Methodist Church with visitation from 12:30-2pm. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
