Rebecca Lynn Rhodes

Mrs. Rebecca (Becky) Sansom Rhodes, born July 14, 1951, in Montgomery, Alabama, passed away at her Montgomery home on December 23, 2022 after a two-year battle with lung cancer. She attended Lee High School, graduating in 1969. She was married to her husband, Thomas (Tommy) Rhodes, for 53 years. Becky worked as a home daycare provider for over 20 years, retiring in 2015. She was devoted to her family above all else. Becky called everyone she knew and even those she didn’t–baby, displaying her southern charm and precious love to one and all. Her generous spirit and infectious laugh will be missed by all who loved her.

Becky Sansom Rhodes is survived by her husband, Thomas Rhodes; two children, Thomas Shannon Rhodes and Fred Jason Rhodes; their spouses, Jenny Strickland Rhodes and Tisha Oiler Rhodes; three grandchildren, Austin Jeffrey Rhodes and his wife Brianna Alicia Rhodes, Lauren Holley Rhodes, and Hayden Rhodes Howell and her husband Josh Scott Howell; and her sister Barbara Sansom Clark. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Kern Sansom and Mavis Timms Sansom.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their two-year care of Becky, with special thanks to Donna Vickery (nurse) and Sam Lofland (bather). Additionally, the family extends tremendous gratitude to the following close friends and extended family for their generous love, care, and support over the past year, Lynn Clark Dennison, Kay and Ray Dutton, Virginia and Freddie Johnston, and Jennifer Livingston.

Visitation and the funeral will be held at Leak Memory Funeral Home on Saturday, December 31, with visitation at 9 a.m. and the funeral at 10 a.m. After the funeral, family and close friends will gather for a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged at the following local organizations, Agape of Central Alabama and Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
