Richard Hardy Dudley, lovingly known as Rich, Dud, or Hardy, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2025, at the age of 72. Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Hardy later made his home in Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Kaufman and Edna Hardy Dudley, and his brother, Samuel Allen Dudley. He is survived by his loving daughters, Patricia (Chris) Guy and Alicia (Lance) Carpenter; his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Kenzie, Bryce, and Silas; his sister, Nan Wallace; his sister-in-law, Vickie Dudley, and nieces and nephews.
Hardy proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later retired from Defense Printing Service at Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
In his later years, Hardy came to know the Lord and was saved — a transformation that brought his girls deep peace and a renewed purpose. He was a devoted dad and grandaddy, whose greatest joys were his daughters and grandchildren. He was a simple man who found happiness in the little things—faith, his daughters, and his love of rock and roll music. He especially enjoyed going to concerts, often on a whim. His easy smile and loyal heart will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Hardy’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Leak Memory Funeral Home, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m, officiated by Johnnie Wood of New Hope Baptist Church. Being Veterans Day, it is a fitting time to honor his service to our country, and he will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery following the service.
