Richard grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. After graduating from Brookline High School, he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his military service, he returned home and married the love of his life, Elizabeth (“Betty”). The couple settled in Concord, Massachusetts where they shared many happy years together.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Ulvedahl; his close loyal friend, Mary “Polly” Petit; and his twin sisters, Diana and Carolyn. Richard is survived by his daughter, Lauren Moore of California. He also leaves behind two grandsons, Jonathan and Keith, and a great-granddaughter, Eliza. Richard is also survived by his devoted caregiver of 8 years, Earnestine Gordon and his good friends Billy and Marshall Hendrix.
Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor and the warmth he brought to those around him.
A miracle took place in Richard’s life on June 8, 2024, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Richard enjoyed attending church, along with his caregiver. Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saint.”
From his caregiver, Ernestine Gordon
Mr. Dick, as I call him, became more than an employer. Mr. Dick became my friend, my family, and the one I loved as a father. I miss his strong voice that I heard after “Hello, hello.” Most of all I miss seeing his face. The love God gave me from him was His Love, according to 1 Corinthians 13:8, “God’s true love never fails.” I would often tell Mr. Dick, you got me for life. On July 16, 2025, my promise to him was fulfilled. My love for Mr. Dick will never end, because it was God’s Love.
I want to thank Mr. Dick’s daughter, Lauren Moore, for entrusting me as his caregiver. Love forever, Earnestine Gordon.
