Robert Dale Edwards, 94, a long-time resident of Montgomery, Alabama, was born August 23, 1923 in Los Angeles, California, and died on April 25, 2018 in Montgomery. He also lived for many years in Culver City and Thousand Oaks, California, where he and his wife raised their three children and were members of Thousand Oaks United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ruth Edwards, and sisters Navora (Jerri) Ward Millar and Lenore Jean Ward. He is survived by his 3 children: Paul Edwards of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Bonnie Gallimore of Chesapeake, Virginia; Kenneth Edwards of Thousand Oaks, California; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Bob was a member of Evangel Church in Montgomery. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945 and in the US Air Force from 1948 to 1954. In 1951, he married Margaret Ruth McElroy of Wichita, Kansas. As his children were growing up, he actively supported their participation in school programs, music lessons, and other activities. He loved to talk about baseball and Los Angeles when it was a small city.
