Robert Benton Walker, age 84, passed away January 5, 2017. Walker, a resident of Montgomery served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon completion of service in the Army, Robert worked as a fireman in Montgomery before working as a general contractor.
Robert was born on November 26, 1932 in Ansley, Alabama. Growing up on a farm, he developed a strong work ethic and a love of God that he would keep for the rest of his life. He was loved by all who knew him, especially children. Robert had a gentle, caring way in dealing with people that will be remembered and cherished by family and friends alike.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalyn Walker and his daughter, Hermoine Walker Bayne. He is survived by his children, Robert B. Walker Jr., Thomas A. Walker, and Debra L. Walker as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Robert was held Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at White Chapel Greenwood. A graveside celebration of life at Forest Hills Cemetery in Snoudon, AL is set for Saturday, January 14 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
